The people of Monasterace are passionate about their food. The town celebrates the Sausage Festival in August and a Wine Festival in October. Street parties and parades regularly take place during these religious holidays.
 
Reggio Di Calabria
 
Reggio di Calabria is the oldest and largest city in Calabria. Set in the Strait of Messina, Reggio has beaches that stretch out in all directions. It has played host to numerous peoples – including the Visigoths, the Ostrogoths, the Byzantines and the Moors. This beach resort province used to be the capital of Calabria until it was shifted to Catanzaro. However although Reggio is no longer Calabria's capital it's scenic location more than makes up for the loss. Its National Museum contains a fascinating collection of ancient art and Reggio is also known for the Bergamot essence (for perfumes) that it produces.
 
Siderno
 
Siderno is a small bathing resort town which is popular with locals and tourists alike. The reason for this is it is said that the beaches of Siderno not only provides aesthetic benefits but health benefits as well. Those suffering from respiratory ailments will do well to breath in the tangy, sea air. Siderno is filled with narrow streets that lead to many great archaeological and historical treasures such as cathedrals, temples, castles, old buildings, and museums. It is also known for its craftsmanship and narrative traditions.
 
Meanwhile, the food in Siderno, like all the other Calabrese towns, is typically Mediterranean and always sumptuous.
